The Sansula is quite an innovative instrument, launched in 2001. The special feature of the Sansula is its clear, prolonged and soft sound. The oval frame of laminated beechwood is fitted with a membrane which, together with the resonating block, produces the very unique tone of the Sansula. Furthermore, an impressive ?wah-wah? effect can be produced by holding the instrument against a body or other object (e.g. table), and then alternately raising and lowering it whilst playing.
The Sansula is a 9 tones Kalimba incorporated into a small frame drum with a resonant wooden body. The Sansula is played as a Kalimba with a wide spectrum of overtones.
The tuning allows wonderful melodies to be produced almost of their own accord, simply by plucking the tines with the thumbs. As all the notes harmonies with each other, beginners also enjoy immediate success with their instrument.
