Background

At Terrapin Trading we have been making hand made soaps since 2015 having taken a course at college to learn the techniques.

We have had all our soap recipes safety tested by a UK testing lab. They were tested by Cosmetic Safety Solutions. We have Cosmetic Product Safety Reports (CSPR) for our recipies. There is a full explanation of the safety testing below.

We sell many more novelty soaps and other carefully selected soaps from small producers.

Aqua, Glycerin, Sodium Stearate, Sorbitol, Sodium Laurate, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Titanium Dioxide, Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Pentasodium Pentetate, Tetrasodium Etidronate

Please note that Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) is a different and more gentle chemical than Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

What is a CPSR?

CPSR is an abbreviation for Cosmetic Product Safety Report

Here is the technical explanation of a CPSR;

The Cosmetic Product Safety Report takes the form of two distinct sections, Parts A & B as specified by Regulation EU 1223/2009 which came into effect in July 2013 across the whole of the EU. Post Brexit, this EU legislation was adopted into UK legislation.

PART A – Cosmetic product safety information

1. Quantitative and qualitative composition of the product

2. Physical/chemical characteristics and stability of the cosmetic product

3. Microbiological quality

4. Impurities, traces, information about the packaging material

5. Normal and reasonably foreseeable use

6. Exposure to the cosmetic product

7. Exposure to the substances

8. Toxicological profile of the substances

9. Undesirable effects and serious undesirable effects

10. Information on the cosmetic product
