Upcycled Bag

Upcycled Bag – Patchwork Vintage Batik Shoulder Bag. Our skilled balinese dressmaker makes these bags exclusively for Terrapin Trading. The process uses lots of individual strips of vintage, Batik cloth sewn together.

The bag features a shoulder strap and inner zip pocket, and a zip close. It is 50cm x 41m 73cm from shoulder to base.

Each one is completely unique due to the patchwork nature of the bag, and a random one will be selected. It has been upcycled and redesigned from vintage Balinese Batik cloth. A unique and rare piece, as vintage batik is becoming increasingly difficult to source.

Please note: The cloth can vary from 20 – 50 years old. There may be imperfections and blemishes from these are vintage and handmade without factory precision instruments. This is a fair trade eco-concious item.

Made by by a talented dressmaker (Ema) with whom we have built a successful and ongoing small business relationship. Her workshop is based in Bali, Indonesia.

These are made from patches of new batik material. Batik is an art form in itself in Indonesia.  Its a technique to dye fabrics using wax to create unique designs.  This item is made from increasingly rare vintage batik patches. you can spot the difference between old and new batik by the vibrancy of the colours. Vintage batik cloth is in more muted colours.
