The item is made using traditional leather work techniques by artisans in the Souks of Marrakech held down over generations

Uppers 100% leather, suede inners and sole

Shade may be slightly different from that shown due to the hand nature of the dying process – please note that the red slipper may come as a pinkish-red as our new batch of reds have come in as this different tone. Also the white may come in as a cream colour – if you don’t like them for any reason you can return no problem!

Please note, the sequence on the slippers are sometimes a slightly different colour from that pictured, due to their hand made nature, and sometimes the shade can have a slight variance from the pic due to hand tanning and dying techniques, their are occasionally mild blemishes on the soles as this is natural product.

History

Babouches (from the Persian papush – pa, foot, and push, cover) have a history that goes back centuries: in fact, it is estimated that they appeared in the 3rd century BC! They appeared in the Arab-Muslim world and were worn by women in order to hide their toes, out of modesty. Men quickly adopted them for their convenience.

This convenient aspect is what the babushiers, as they are called nowadays, are looking for.
